David Sever
Pitching
Dave played his prep ball at Benet Academy in Lisle where in 2005 he was an All-Area player. He received a full scholarship to Division 1, St. Louis University. At SLU, Dave became one of the most accomplished pitchers in the school’s history. He is the all time leader in wins and second all time in strikeouts.
Dave was drafted in 2008 by the Los Angeles Dodgers, but chose to stay in school, finish his degree and his collegiate career. In 2009, the pro’s came calling again and this time Dave was drafted in the 16th round by the Toronto Blue Jays. He played for the Auburn Doubledays in short-season A ball and then for the Lansing Lugnuts in the Midwest League.
Coach Stone’s comments on Dave Sever – “Dave started working for me when he was in pro ball during the off seasons. One thing I immediately noticed about Dave was how intelligent he is. Coming from Benet Academy and St. Louis University, Dave is just a really sharp guy. With that you get a guy that understands mechanics and pitching beyond ‘the way I did it.’ Dave has a passion and dedication for working with kids and it comes out in his teaching.”
