Jonathan Porter

Hitting, Catching

Jonathan is the newest member of the staff at Elite Baseball Training.  He began his playing career at Von Steuben High School in Chicago where he played four years of varsity baseball.  Jon was a two time All-Conference player at Von Steuben.  From there, he continued his playing career at Elmhurst College and was the captain of the team his senior season.

Jonathan has been coaching ever since he finished his playing career.  He has coached in both the Lincolnwood and Glenview Blaze travel programs and is now an assistant at Northside College Prep.  To add, Jon has been giving private instruction on the north side since 2010.

Coach Stone’s comments on Jonathan Porter – “When Jon came on board, it was obvious to me that he is passionate about the game of baseball.  I get excited about baseball, and I want to surround myself with guys who also get excited about the game. This is what we are trying to spread to the students we come in contact with.  Like a lot of our instructors, Jon was a former catcher, and usually your young instructors who were catchers are much further ahead in their baseball knowledge, because of the demands of that position.”
