*Hitting, Defense, Catching

Katie was born and raised in the Chicagoland area. She began her softball career at 8 years old playing for the Oak Park Windmills organization and that continued for next 10 years. During that time she played in a variety of tournaments including ASA Nationals, ASA Gold Nationals and NSA Nationals. She was a three year starter on the varsity team for Oak Park and River Forest High School in which she was named Offensive MVP, Player of the Week, Top 60 players to Watch from the Chicago Tribune. She went on to be a three year starter at the collegiate level for the University of Redlands in Redlands, California. Her awards include being named Team Offensive MVP for two seasons and All-SCIAC in 2000. Throughout her softball career, Katie played several positions in both the infield and outfield but her true passion is catching.

After college, Katie went back to where she started playing softball to coach young girls with the Oak Park Windmills organization. At this point she realized that she wanted work with children more and went back to school to obtain a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Illinois at Chicago. As a licensed teacher, she has taught a variety of age groups ranging from 3rd to 8th grade. She was interim head coach at Concordia University Chicago during the 2008 season and a three season catching and assistant JV coach for Lake Park High School. Between Katie’s experience as a teacher and coach, she brings both knowledge and teaching techniques that bring the best out of her players in both hitting and catching.
